They were comfortable and stayed securely in my ears but you can twist a small lip of the earbud under the cartilage of your ear to lock them in place if needed. They do a good job of avoiding putting pressure on the delicate parts of the ear, held in place by the oval ear tips – of which there are three sizes in the box. The new earbuds are bigger and heavier than the Buds+ and do not twist to fit in the concha of your ear in quite the same way, protruding slightly further, but are still small compared with rivals. Silicone ear tips, on the other hand, muffle the upper frequencies and soften the bass. The design of the Buds Pro is an amalgam of the company’s previous efforts. The foam is very effective in isolating sound inside. You probably already know that foam ear tips fit better, which is why they bring out the clear audio note, particularly the bass. If you don’t establish that right seal, sound transfer (especially low frequencies) may suffer, and too much outside noise will intrude. They’re designed to be fully pushed into your ear canal, like a cork in a wine bottle, so the spongy tip can make a tight seal with all of the walls of your ear canal. Certain ComplyTM foam tip types even have a “wax guard” to prevent earwax from building up in the tubes. These memory foam ear tips form a tight seal that increases IEM noise isolation significantly.
